Adult CPA for Dummies

Is there a single adult webmaster who has not tried to make some extra bucks by recommending his favorite CPA programs? Yes! Me! It's about time I started.

The webmaster referral system actually works quite well. The extra cash does not come out of the referred webmasters pockets, and no one would recommend a bad program if he gets a piece of the cake.

Geo Targetting - a must!

Before we get to my list, one thing you absolutely must do if you haven't already: Get a geo-targetting mechanism! There is a good free IP location database here.
They claim that their binary database performs much better than an SQL version. That is surely true if you use the suggested BETWEEN queries. I could not get mySQL to properly use indexes for BETWEEN over two columns. However, you can just do "WHERE range_start < $IP ORDER BY range_start DESC LIMIT 1". Works perfectly with a single index on "range_start" and gives the same result.
Whip up a few PHP (or language of your choice) scripts to ensure you are showing the right banners to the right people. If you need help with that, feel free to contact me.

Recommended Adult CPA Programs

Back on topic, here is my list:

Copeac, more specifially the Fling.com campaign there. Takes only U.S. and Canadian traffic, but converts great and pays over $2 per free signup. They have other well converting dating programs, too. It's also the only advertising network I found, where your affiliate manager will actually help you and communicate with you.

Adcell - Got german traffic? Then Adcell is the network for you. Lots of adult programs, but clean ones, too.

So, here is what you do: You will register for both of these networks under my affiliate account and drive massive traffic there, so that I'll never have to work again. Easy. :-)

You will notice that you'll have quite some traffic left from Eastern Europe, the Middle East and China. I have no real idea what to do with that myself. At the moment I send it to AWE, a pretty good PPS program.

Bait as link can!

Link bait is pretty much the most effective SEO tactic. All you need is a good idea and some time, then the links and traffic start rolling in. There are many funny, interesting, controversial, or plain nuts things one can do on the net to catch some attention. Just too bad if you are in the adult business.

Of course, one could start a free video site, burn a boatload of bandwidth, and then get sued for copyright violations. But there is so much free porn already, that I honestly wonder how there are still pay sites making a living.

But even if there was a good idea, the adult industry seems to be the unloved ugly step child of the internet. No one links to a site which has even the remotest connection to adult entertainment. I am not talking hardcore porn here, mind you. Put a clean banner to a mild adult dating site on your page and see how fast people will drop your links. "Oh my god! We have to protect the children! The devil has a penis, too!". Yeah, right.

I tried a Google Earth database for outdoor sex. Google Earth is geekish blog bait. Combined with outdoor sex this should make a great "bash the sicko adult webmasters" topic. At least it should get some attention from a few pervert forums. Well, it didn't.

So what can we do to get a piece of this yummy cake? Aren't you tired of submitting galleries to TGPs and setting up the same site with a different layout for the umpteenth time? We don't even link to each other, because we put a price tag on every link. Why give free traffic to something cool, when we can monetize it? We rarely try something new, and when we do we only aim at brainless hornboys. We have spoiled the word "free" for other internet marketers. And when we create link bait, it will have "credit card required" written all over it.

You know, we really are the ugly step child.

What's in a first post?

How does one start a blog? "Hello, I am ... I live in ...."? Of course, resorting to kindergarden essay tactics seems safe enough, but it lacks style.

"So, I started a blog ...". So, I had to go pee. Who cares? Shouldn't a blog be informative or entertaining? Since this is my first blog post people will probably make the connection.

I for one will skip my first post, because nothing good can come from it!
